Greenland Group started its business in trading and contracting by forming an ownership company named Green Bengal Establishment in 1983. The initial trading business was limited to exporting traditional and non-traditional goods specially fish and vegetable to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Subsequently this trading company was named as Greenland Trading and Contracting which continued trading in traditional and non-traditional items with foreign countries. Later the Group focused on the manpower sector and started exploring the job market of the Middle East for skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workers and labourers particularly in KSA and UAE. To handle this new area of business Greenland Overseas came up in 1988 with a far reaching vision and goal of creating job opportunity for surplus manpower of Bangladesh in global job market.

Facing with the challenge of procuring trained and skilled manpower, the management of Greenland Overseas felt the need for creating a backward linkage in the form of skill development training before placing manpower for employment abroad. As a result Greenland Academic & Training Complex (GATC) came up in 2004, which is one of the finest skill training outfits of the country with three institutions namely, Greenland Training Centre Ltd. Greenland Technical Institute and Greenland Polytechnic Institute operating in close concert with each other under the roof of GATC. Among these, GTCL is an ISO 9001:2008 certified company and is also a corporate member of British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc). 

For ensuring timely and efficient travel arrangement for outbound workers Greenland Overseas Tourism Ltd. (GOTL) came into operation in 2006. However, GOTL now has expanded into a full-fledged business outfit which takes care of growing need of travel and tourism sector of the country. 

Keeping in mind the demand of our overseas clients for selected workers to be medically fit Greenland Medical Centre Ltd. (GMCL) was established in 2008 to facilitate medical test of the selected workforce for employment abroad. GMCL is fully equipped with most modern diagnostic tools and equipment capable of producing most accurate and reliable medical test reports. 

Greenland Group also expanded its business horizon in the field of industrial automation. As a partner of EC Global Ltd. an US based Siemens System Solution provider, GL Group is also engaged in services related to industrial automation, renewable energy, and engineering service and support. 

As a strategy of diversification, last but not the least addition to the growing business concerns of Greenland Group is Greenland Builders Ltd. (GLBL). This new venture is a testimony to our long term vision of taking part in the development of the infrastructure of the country. An ISO 9001:2008 certified company GLBL has added a new impetus to the growing real estate sector of the country with a significant number of multi storied residential and commercial building projects at different stages of development. 

The humble beginning as a trading and contracting company thus over the years has grown into a multi-dimensional group of companies while retaining its main focus on manpower sector of the country.
