Established in 4th July 1999, the institution is regulated by the Bangladesh Army and approved by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Sylhet.

It offers higher secondary subjects including science, commerce and arts programmes. The institute was awarded "Best Institution" on 18 January 2004 by the president of Bangladesh.

An educated man displays elegant manners and righteous conduct. In view of it, Jalalabad Cantonment Public School & College attaches paramount importance on the formation of character of the students and so the rules of conduct and discipline are rigorously enforced.

প্রতিষ্ঠানের স্কুল শাখায় প্রথম থেকে দশম শ্রেণী পর্যন্ত পাঠদান করা হয়। প্রতি শ্রেণীতে রয়েছে একাধিক শাখা। নবম ও দশম শ্রেণীতে রয়েছে বিজ্ঞান, মানবিক এবং ব্যবসায় শিক্ষা বিভাগ। ষষ্ট শ্রেণি হতে বাংলা মাধ্যমের পাশাপাশি ইংরেজি মাধ্যম চালু আছে। প্রাথমিক শিক্ষা সমাপনী পরীক্ষায় সিলেট বোর্ডে ১ম সহ সারা দেশে ৬ষ্ঠ, জেএসসিতে সিলেট বোর্ডে ১ম সহ সারা দেশে ৮ম এবং এসএসসি তে সিলেট বোর্ডে দ্বিতীয় স্থানে আছে জেসিপিএসসি।

১৯৯৯ সালে শুধু বিজ্ঞান বিভাগ নিয়ে কলেজ শাখা শুরু হলেও সল্প সময়ে এর কলেবর বিস্তৃত হয়। একাদশ ও দ্বাদশ শ্রেণীতে বিজ্ঞান, মানবিক এবং ব্যবসা বিভাগে একাধিক শাখার মাধ্যমে পাঠদান করা হয়। বিজ্ঞান বিভাগে ৪টি, মানবিক বিভাগে ২টি এবং ব্যবসায় শাখা বিভাগে ৩টি শাখা রয়েছে।২০১৪ সাল থেকে এইচএসসি পরীক্ষায় জেসিপিএসসি সিলেট বোর্ডে ১ম ও সমগ্র বাংলাদেশে ৯ম স্থানে উঠে এসেছে।
